SEAN BUCKLEY & THE BREADCRUMBS
Turning professional in 1965 under the management of Kenny Johnson (famed for his Stratford E.15 pub The Two Puddings), Sean Buckley & The Breadcrumbs toured pubs, clubs, and concert halls, supporting acts like The Kinks, The Who, The Animals, The Pretty Things, Manfred Mann, Jerry Lee Lewis, Them, P.J.Proby and many others.
After auditioning for producer Shel Talmy, they cut their first (and only) single, "It Hurts Me When I Cry / Everybody Knows," at IBC Studios with Glyn Johns as engineer.
Jimmy Page plays the stinging lead guitar on the B-side “Everybody Knows”, a fiery mod-beat track that has become widely sought after by collectors and often highlighted as one of Page’s most explosive pre-Yardbirds solos.
The A-side is a soulful ballad, but it’s the flip that stands out for Page’s aggressive style, described as “lacerating” in reissue liner notes and music journalism.
The single was released on Stateside (UK) in May 1965 and has since appeared in several notable compilations—among them, "Session Man Vol. 2" and the acclaimed "Planet Beat – From the Shel Talmy Vaults."
