BURT BACHARACH

As Bacharach and partner Hal David typically used orchestras for their music, it might seem almost pointless to bring in a session guitarist who worked mainly with Beat and Pop groups.

Yet, Jimmy Page can be clearly heard on the Hit Maker!: Burt Bacharach Plays the Bacharach Hits album, recorded in London and released in 1965.

Page’s distinctive guitar work features prominently on both “Trains & Boats & Planes” and “(There’s) Always Something There To Remind Me," alongside future Led Zeppelin bandmate John Paul Jones on bass.

As Bacharach himself recalled: “I had a young Jimmy Page playing guitar.

Good guys, good band, good attitude, everything!” (NME, 2009).

This collaboration shows how the British pop/Beat scene fused with Bacharach’s classic orchestrations during this era.
