CLIFF BENNETT AND THE REBEL ROUSERS

In 1957 Bennett put together the first version of the Rebel Rousers, who soon attracted audio engineer and aspiring record producer Joe Meek.

The band recorded several singles for Parlophone; Bennett continued recording there with covers like "You've Really Got a Hold on Me" and "Got My Mojo Working," but failed to chart.

They were signed by Brian Epstein to a management contract in September 1964, and their seventh Parlophone release, "One Way Love" b/w "Slow Down," finally charted.

Jimmy Page played rhythm guitar on the session, helping to deliver Bennett’s driving R&B sound alongside the band’s signature double sax section and powerhouse backing.
